Ranking the Best Fishing Carts
Purpose of a fishing cart
The best fishing carts are small and portable heavy duty wagons that are designed to carry fishing equipment. They are sometimes called beach fishing carts, pier fishing carts, and wagon fishing carts in different situations. They can provide plenty of use and are good for freshwater fishing in a lake or river as well as beach fishing.
Fishing can require a lot of equipment. You and your group may need to carry several rods, a tackle box, a cooler, chairs, and many other things. A fishing wagon cart is a great addition to any fisherman’s fishing equipment. Fishing carts will save you a lot of time and duress during your fishing trips to the beach, pier, lake, or river.
What to look for in a fishing cart
When choosing the best fishing carts you will want to look for strong wheels and tires that can stand up to both heavy and light terrain and anything else that might pop up in your way. These wheels need to be large and wide and tough. The best fishing carts also need to hold the load at a good enough height to avoid pitfalls and obstacles.
You will also want to make sure that your fishing wagon cart is big enough to carry the equipment that you will need. This can vary greatly depending on how many people you fish with and how much gear you like to use.
#1 Best Fishing Cart: Fish-N-Mate Senior Fishing Cart
Heavy-duty fishing cart
The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart is a larger and more heavy-duty version of their Junior Cart. It is currently priced at $249.75. This is not much more expensive than its largely inferior Junior counterpart.
Big, strong, and light
The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart has a compartment that is 44 inches in length. It has a basic yet heavy-duty aluminum frame with bigger and thicker tires than the Junior Cart but no front wheel. It has 6 rod holders mounted on the sides. The cart weighs only 24.7 pounds. This makes it a perfect heavy-duty cart that can be stored and transported easily.
The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart is something to behold in action. You will likely have extra room. You may even have to go out and buy some more fishing equipment so that you can take full advantage of this things massive load capacity. It would be a great fishing cart for any freshwater fisherman.
This is a much sturdier fishing cart than the Junior Cart thanks to the larger frame and tires. It still manages to sacrifice none of the lightweight appeal and portability. This cart would hold up well in the roughest terrain and would be a great addition not just at the beach but at the river and the lake as well.
Our favorite fishing cart
The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart is fairly pricy but you get what you pay for. Compared to the Junior Cart it is a fantastic deal. This is a heavy-duty cart that you can barely feel behind you as you pull it along. It might as well be hovering behind you, even with a gigantic load. It makes it over small obstacles with ease. The cart is fantastic regardless of the price. It is definitely recommended to splurge on this. Your back and your equipment will thank you. The fish might not.
#2 Best Fishing Cart Berkley Collapsible Fishing Cart
A more rugged fishing wagon cart
The Berkley Fishing Cart is a slightly more versatile fishing cart with a strong fabric-lined open compartment. It is priced at $118.99 on Amazon.
Sturdy and durable
The Cart has two thick tires and two sturdy legs on the front to balance on when the cart is resting. It collapses down for easy storage when not in use. The cart has a sturdy handle bar and six removable rod holders. It has a heavy-duty aluminum frame that is resistant to corrosion. This cart includes a fold-out cutting board with a bait compartment that includes storage for knives. It is designed to hold up to 200 pounds.
Awesome and portable small fishing cart
We had a great time when we put the Berkley Fishing Cart to use. It is rugged enough that you could probably use it in rougher terrain than the others. This would be a great fishing cart for freshwater fishermen and beach or pier fishermen. The portability is a huge plus on this one for those who care about easy storage.
Extra arms are a plus for balance
The extra arms for balance helped this to feel like one of the sturdiest fishing carts. You could park this thing on a slant and fish for hours. Overall an awesome cart at a great price.
#3 Best Fishing Cart Sea Striker Beach Runner Deluxe Fishing Cart
The Sea Striker Beach Runner Deluxe is a thin and simple black fishing cart with sturdy pneumatic plastic wheels, thick rubber tires, and a sleek and minimal frame design. It goes for $129.99 on Amazon. There is no front wheel.
It needs to be assembled by the buyer but includes tools for you to do the job easily. The cart is 36 inches in length. It does not fold up after assembly so portability may be an issue for some.
We liked this fishing wagon cart quite a bit when put into action. The Sea Striker Beach Runner Deluxe is great, simple, light, and cheap. It isn’t very portable so you might want to go elsewhere if portability and easy storage is your main focus.
Sturdy feel at a good price point
The thing feels pretty sturdy and can hold quite a bit of supplies. This would be a great cart for those with a good amount of stuff that don’t want to spend too much money. This is probably one of the best options for its price. It gets the job done well and for cheap.
#4 Best Fishing Cart Fish-N-Mate Junior Fish Cart
Basic and large fishing cart
The Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is another basic fishing wagon cart with a large compartment and two thick wheels. It is priced at 234.46 on Amazon. It has a durable aluminum frame and a small removable third front wheel at the base of the handle for better maneuvering.
A unique feature of the Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is a little cutting board that is held up on the side with a little basket for bait. The Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is made to be disassembled for more portability when traveling. It is 34 inches in length and features 4 rod holders mounted on the sides.
Simple and lightweight
The Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is fairly impressive. It is a stripped back fishing cart that’s perfect for light needs and would be a good fit for younger ones. It handles well but feels a little small for our tastes. It’s still able to carry a good amount of supplies and equipment and possibly just the right amount for a single person. The cutting board and bait basket are interesting and work well when put into use. It is a convenient and nice addition to a pretty basic fishing cart.
Good buy for the right person
The Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is sturdy and light. This would be a good buy for those who do not have too much stuff to carry around with them on the beach or pier. It is also versatile enough that you could ideally use it in other fishing scenarios with rougher terrain and more hazards.
#5 Best Fishing Cart Muscle Carts Fishing and Marine Cart
Basic fishing cart
The Muscle Carts Fish and Marine Cart is a basic fishing wagon cart with a large compartment that should be able to carry whatever it is you need to go fishing, wether freshwater fishing or at the beach. It is 30 inches long and is priced at $168.53 on Amazon.
The Muscle Carts Fish and Marine Cart has two thick tires to balance on in the middle and a small stand at the front to rest on when not moving. The handle is minimal and simple with not much of a grip. It is said to be able to handle loads of up to 22o pounds. It has 5 rod holders mounted on the sides.
Does its job
Our experience with the Muscle Carts Fish and Marine Cart was pretty good. It is a very basic wagon fishing cart that gets the job done and handles well through sandy terrain. It has incredibly thick and sturdy rubber wheels that would also do good in the dirt.
Skeptical of load capacity
We have a hard time believing this cart can hold 220 pounds. It was also a little low to the ground for our taste. More extreme outdoors terrain may not be best for this cart. It maneuvered well and was able to carry a good enough amount of supplies that we felt fully stocked and ready.
Reasonable cart for a reasonable price
One problem with the Muscle Carts Fish and Marine Carts was that it was perhaps a little bit smaller than we would’ve preferred. This is not one of the best fishing carts you can get for the price but it’s certainly not the worst. This is a reasonable fishing wagon cart for a reasonable price.
Portable tackle box for outdoors use
First we have the Elkton Outdoors Rolling Tackle Box. It goes for $129.99 on Amazon, making it fairly affordable. This isn’t one is a heavy-duty piece of luggage that just so happens to be a tackle box. It is made for all outdoors settings, It does not have a space to carry a large cooler.
Strong, durable, and portable
The Elkton Outdoors Rolling Tackle Box is strong and waterproof. It is not too large and would be fairly easy to traverse along mild terrain in the outdoors. Also it has a shoulder strap so it can be used as a backpack on terrain where the wheels might prove tricky. It features a large storage compartment as well as a generous tackle box with 18 compartments to store whatever fishing supplies you will need,
The Elkton Outdoors Rolling Tackle Box has a pull-out retractable handle similar to any standard piece of luggage with a compact design on two wheels. It is made to hold up well in outdoors conditions with a durable build and high-quality zippers. It has 4 rod holders on the side.
Good for what it is
Our experience with the Elkton Outdoors Rolling Tackle Box was pleasant. It is a strong and sturdy little tackle box that can be transported easily either with the wheels or the shoulder strap and doesn’t take up too much room in the car.
Wheels are very small
The wheels were a little small and would definitely not be good to use in sand. They worked alright in mild dirt. The addition of the shoulder strap makes it more versatile but the whole point of the fishing cart is that you don’t have to carry it.
Good for the dirt but not for the sand
This would be a great tackle box for use in the dirt and the wheels held up well enough when we took it to the river. There were definitely parts where we retracted the handle and carried it on our backs but for the most part the wheels worked and it was pleasant enough to roll around and came in handy often when fishing. Being waterproof is a huge plus.
Ample amount of room
It was impressive how much we were able to fit into the compartments themselves. The storage compartment was able to hold a good deal of supplies while I had no problem fitting everything I needed and then some into the tackle compartments.
Good choice for the outdoors
This could be a good choice for an outdoorsman who wants a nice portable rolling tackle box for freshwater fishing. The durable and waterproof fabric would be great for camping and the price makes it actually a pretty good deal. Those who want to fish on the beach or pier can look elsewhere.
The Best Fishing Cart
The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart is the best mix of heavy-duty and lightweight while also providing a large amount of room to store all of your gear and supplies. The little additions on some other carts like cutting boards and fabric linings aren’t missed much. The Fish-N-Mate Senior Cart is a streamlined fishing cart that provides you with exactly what you need at the highest level of durability and functionality. It is also strong and versatile, able to be used for freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing on the beach or pier.
The Berkley Fishing Cart is great and slightly more portable but can’t take as big of a load. It is much more affordable, however. The Sea Striker Beach Runner Deluxe is great for what it is and also very affordable.
The Fish-N-Mate Junior Cart is a much lesser version of the Senior Cart with not a very large dip in price. This should only really be purchased if you need a smaller cart and still want the Fish-N-Mate quality. The Muscle Carts Fish and Marine Cart was fine but not so great compared to the other more affordable carts such as the Berkley Fishing Cart and the Sea Striker Beach Runner Deluxe. The Elkton Rolling Outdoors Tackle Box is a nice small and portable tackle box that doesn’t have as much room as the carts.
